November proved to be a vibrant and engaging month at Manton Heights Care Centre in Bedford, with a varied programme of events bringing residents, staff and
the wider community together to mark important moments and create lasting memories.
Lifestyle Lead Sian added: “Every event was planned with inclusion in mind, making sure everyone could take part in a way that suited them. Seeing residents’ smiles, whether during a quiet moment of remembrance or at the Christmas market, made all the hard work worthwhile.”
The month began with a meaningful Remembrance Day celebration on 11th November. Residents were joined by members of the British Legion for a reflective afternoon, accompanied by a live entertainer who performed well-known songs from the era. A generous buffet and refreshments were available throughout the event, giving everyone the chance to come together, share memories and mark the occasion in a respectful and uplifting way.
On Blue Light Friday, 14th November, Manton Heights strengthened its community links with a visit to the local fire station. Residents and team members delivered breakfast sandwiches to thank the firefighters for their service, before enjoying a guided tour of the station and a close-up look at the fire engine. The visit sparked plenty of conversation and curiosity, with residents enjoying the chance to learn more about the vital work carried out by emergency services.
Creativity took centre stage later in the month with Stir It Up Sunday, hosted on Monday 23rd November to ensure everyone could take part. The Lifestyle Team made sure every resident was included, visiting each person individually to help them join in with mixing ingredients. The activity was designed to be accessible and engaging, ensuring no one
missed out on the fun.
The month ended on a festive high with Manton Heights’ annual Christmas Market on 29th November. The event welcomed residents, families and members of the local community to enjoy a variety of stalls, festive treats and entertainment. Father Christmas made a special appearance, and a local radio station joined the celebrations, helping to spread the festive atmosphere beyond the home.
Vera, Home Manager at Manton Heights Care Centre, said: “November was a wonderful example of how meaningful activities can bring people together. From moments of reflection to fun, festive events, it was fantastic to see residents so engaged and enjoying a real sense of community.”
