Woodlands Care Centre has officially opened the doors to its brand-new cinema room, marking another investment in creating engaging and meaningful shared
spaces for residents, families, and the local community.
The opening was celebrated with a special afternoon event attended by residents, families and loved ones, local dignitaries, the home’s management team, and RCH Care Homes Senior Directors. A highlight of the event saw much-loved resident Denise join Cllr Richard Swift, Deputy Mayor of Cambridge, in cutting the ribbon to officially open the new space.
Designed to offer more than just film screenings, the cinema room will provide a welcoming environment for shared experiences, family visits, themed events, and community led activities. It reflects Woodlands Care Centre’s ongoing commitment to enriching daily life while strengthening connections beyond the home.
Diana Moraru Manole, Operations Director at RCH Care Homes, said: “The new cinema room is a space designed to bring people together. It gives residents the opportunity to enjoy shared experiences in a relaxed, social setting, while also creating a welcoming place for families and members of the local community to connect with the home. Spaces like this play an important role in supporting wellbeing, inclusion, and meaningful relationships.”
At a home level, the project reflects careful collaboration across teams to ensure the space meets residents’ interests and supports everyday engagement.

what residents enjoy and how families spend time together when they visit. It gives everyone another reason to come together, whether that’s for a favourite film, a themed afternoon, or a community event. It’s been wonderful to see residents enjoying the space already.”
