After an incredible summer of stepping out for charity, the residents, families, and team at Park View Care Centre in Ashford weren’t ready to stop there, instead,
they took their Walkathon challenge to the next level with a festive twist: virtually walking all the way to the North Pole!
From the heart of Kent to the snowy reaches of the Arctic, this determined group set out to cover 4,320 kilometres (an amazing 5.8 million steps) to raise funds and awareness for The Salvation Army and their life-changing work supporting people facing homelessness, hardship, and crisis this winter.
With every garden stroll, physiotherapy session, corridor walk, and break-time lap, the steps added up, and so did the smiles. The atmosphere was full of Christmas cheer and shared purpose, as residents and staff worked together, logging steps and celebrating milestones along the way.
General Manager Darren Humby said: “The commitment and enthusiasm from everyone at Park View has been incredible. Residents were so proud to be part of something that supports people in need – and it gave everyone a boost during the colder months. We’ve laughed, shared stories, and stayed active together – and raising over £500 for The Salvation Army makes it all even more meaningful.”
The team would like to thank everyone who donated and supported the initiative — from family members to local well-wishers. Your kindness has made a real difference this winter.
