Residents and team members at Park View Care Centre in Ashford are celebrating a successful football season after proudly supporting Ashford United FC throughout the year.
The nursing and dementia care home, located just minutes from the club’s ground, began the partnership over the summer after discovering a shared passion for football among residents, many of whom are long time “Nuts & Bolts” supporters. As part of this, the home sponsored two players, Barry Fuller and Matt Bodkin, strengthening its connection with the local community.
Across the season, residents and team members have followed matches closely, regularly tuning in via the club’s YouTube channel and coming together to discuss performances, results, and league standings. The partnership also provided opportunities for residents to attend matches in person, bringing the excitement of live football into their weekly activities.
One highlight of the season saw residents attend a thrilling 3–3 draw against Erith, where they also had the opportunity to meet sponsored player Barry Fuller. Despite being side-lined through injury, he spent time chatting with residents, sharing insights into the game and posing for photos, an experience that proved popular with football fans at the home.
Today marks the final match of the season, with Ashford United set to face Hassocks FC at The Green Box Stadium, bringing to a close a season that has created lasting connections and shared experiences.
General Manager Darren Humby said: “This partnership has brought a real sense of energy into the home. Football is something that resonates with many of our residents, and being able to support a local club while staying connected to the sport has made a meaningful difference. It’s been fantastic to see the conversations, the matchday excitement, and the sense of being part of something bigger within the community.”
Park View Care Centre looks forward to continuing its relationship with Ashford United FC into the future, with residents already eager to follow the next season and continue supporting their team.
