A Joyful July at Manton Heights: Celebrating Community, Compassion, and Connection

July was a month full of warmth, fun, laughter and togetherness at Manton Heights Care Centre, with a string of uplifting activities that brought smiles to residents, staff, and our wider community.

We kicked things off with our Blue Light Friday appreciation visit, where we had the honour of delivering freshly made breakfast baps to our local ambulance crew. It was a gesture of thanks to the everyday heroes who support our community so tirelessly. Their smiles and gratitude made the early start well worth it!

Our popular Dementia Café was especially meaningful this month, with the amazing Sarah, Co-founder of Tibbs Dementia Foundation, sharing her insights with us and we also welcomed a special guest  Mohammad Yasin MP for Bedford and Kempston to join the conversation. The visit gave residents, families, and staff the opportunity to speak openly about dementia and share their experiences in a warm, inclusive setting. Over tea and biscuits, conversations flowed, awareness was raised, and voices were heard.

We also had the pure joy of hosting the wonderful children from Busy Bees Nursery, who visited to help us tend to our newly planted sensory garden. Their energy and enthusiasm were infectious, and their support with watering plants, running an egg and spoon race, and designing colourful posters for our upcoming summer fête brought life and laughter to the day. The intergenerational connections were a delight for all involved.

And of course, no summer would be complete without a day out in the sun! Residents enjoyed a brilliant trip to Maypole Farm, where good food, great company, and refreshing ice cream were the order of the day. From sharing stories to soaking up the sunshine, it was an outing full of joy and treasured memories.

Here at Manton Heights, every month brings new reasons to smile – and July was no exception. We’re proud to be a place where community spirit thrives, and where every day is shaped by kindness, laughter, and love.
