It’s been a joyful and action-packed month at Maidstone Care Centre, with residents and staff embracing the sunshine, creativity, and community spirit that make the home so special.
From the relaxing calm of salon sessions to the upbeat joy of live music and dancing, the team has gone all out to ensure residents enjoyed a rich variety of activities throughout May. As the sun made its welcome appearance, the community stepped outside to soak up the good weather, taking part in outdoor painting, gardening, and crafting bird feeders for their feathered garden visitors.
One of the month’s highlights was the build-up to VE Day. Residents began by making their own decorations and were treated to two days of live entertainment on May 6th and 8th, accompanied by delicious food and drink. The events brought everyone together—residents, staff, and visitors—to sing along to wartime classics and dance the afternoons away.
“It’s been such a fantastic month,” said Belinda, Lifestyle Lead at Maidstone Care Centre. “You could feel the energy and joy everywhere—whether we were planting flowers, enjoying music, or simply sharing laughter over a game of bingo. Our residents are at the heart of
everything we do, and seeing their smiles makes it all worthwhile.”
The fun continued with thoughtful gestures of appreciation as residents came together to make sweet treats—pizzas and chocolate cookies—for the staff, as a heartfelt thank you for their ongoing dedication and care. Games of bingo added a bit of friendly competition and plenty of laughter, especially with some amusing new call-out names that got everyone giggling.
And in the garden, the tomato plants started in April have now begun to flower, adding to the anticipation for a blooming summer ahead. With the decking and garden areas being lovingly prepared and decorated, the team is now turning their attention to the upcoming summer activities and events, promising even more connection, creativity, and care.
