Residents at Manton Heights Care Centre in Bedford enjoyed a day filled with colour, creativity, and connection as they marked World Art Day with a vibrant celebration in the home’s very own cinema.
The cinema, transformed for the day into an inspiring art space, provided the perfect setting for the occasion. Surrounded by music and the soft clink of glasses, residents were treated to a relaxed afternoon featuring cheese, wine, and artistic exploration. Whether picking up a paintbrush, experimenting with crafts, or simply soaking up the atmosphere, everyone had the chance to take part in the fun.
The event was designed to not only honour the spirit of World Art Day but also to support wellbeing and self-expression among residents, many of whom live with dementia. Art-based activities like these offer meaningful engagement, spark joy, and help residents to communicate and connect in different ways.
Sian, the home’s Lifestyle Lead, shared:
“It was such a beautiful afternoon – the cinema setting created a cosy, creative space where everyone could relax and express
themselves. There was laughter, storytelling, and so much imagination on display. Events like this are about more than making art; they’re about making memories.”
General Manager Vera added:
“At Manton Heights, we believe that the arts play a powerful role in enriching the lives of those we support. World Art Day gave us the perfect opportunity to celebrate creativity and togetherness. I’m incredibly proud of the team for creating such a special day for our residents.”
The World Art Day celebration is just one of many enriching activities on offer at Manton Heights, reflecting the care centre’s commitment to delivering person-centred, engaging, and joyful experiences for all who live there.
