At Manton Heights Care Centre in Bedford, residents and team members united for a heartfelt week of remembrance, culminating in a poignant service to honour

those who have served and sacrificed for their country. The activities, filled with reflection, creativity, and connection, showcased the care home’s deep commitment to paying tribute to our heroes.
A Week of Reflection and Tribute
In the days leading up to Remembrance Sunday, the care home was a hub of activity, with residents and staff engaging in meaningful reminiscence sessions and creating beautiful arts and crafts tributes. The home was adorned with handmade poppies, wreaths, and displays that resonated with pride and respect for the occasion.
For many at Manton Heights, Remembrance Day is deeply personal. Resident Nico, who served in the army as a Morse code operator, shared, “I felt very proud of how the home came together for this. It was a wonderful way to remember and honour everyone who served.”
A Special Service of Remembrance
On Remembrance Sunday, the home hosted a moving service that brought residents, families, and staff together. The service was made even more special by the presence of members of the Royal British Legion, whose participation added a profound sense of community and respect to the day.

Resident Andy, a former sergeant in the army, relished the opportunity to share his stories with others. “It’s important to tell these stories,” he said with a proud smile. “They’re part of who we are and remind us of the sacrifices made.”
The service also provided a moment for families to connect and reflect together. Claudia, a resident at the home, was joined by her partner John, a proud member of the Royal British Legion, who helped lead parts of the ceremony. Their shared involvement added an intimate and personal touch to the day.
