For Orchard House Care Home in Wisbech, Emergency Services Day is an important date on the calendar – one that both residents and staff look forward to every
year. To mark the occasion, the home once again prepared and delivered hampers packed with freshly baked treats, homemade goodies, and heartfelt thank-you cards filled with positive affirmations.
The hampers, created by the home’s chef and lifestyle team with help from residents, were hand-delivered across Wisbech to local police, fire, and ambulance teams. The initiative holds special significance, as many of the home’s residents have either served in the armed forces or worked as blue light responders themselves.
Sarah Watson, General Manager at Orchard House Care Home, said:
“999 Day means a great deal to us. It gives us the chance to show our appreciation in a tangible way, and our residents really enjoy being part of it. The hampers are a small gesture, but they carry a big message of thanks.”
Miranda Robinson, Lifestyle Lead, added:
“The residents love helping with the cards and adding their personal touches – it makes the day even more meaningful. Walking around Wisbech to deliver the hampers gives everyone such a sense of pride and connection with the wider community.”
