Orchard House Christmas Wonderland Brings Festive Magic to Wisbech

More than 300 families from the local community were welcomed to a magical Christmas Wonderland at Orchard House Care Home, as the home opened its grounds for a free festive event designed to bring families together and spread seasonal cheer.

The special community celebration saw the grounds transformed into an enchanting winter setting, with illuminated pathways, festive décor and artificial snow guiding visitors on a magical journey to Santa’s grotto. Every child who attended enjoyed a personal visit with Father Christmas and received a Christmas gift, all provided completely free of charge.

The event was made possible through months of fundraising and close collaboration between Orchard House and its community partners, including Tesco and W Bailey & Son Funeral Directors, alongside the support of a number of local businesses and volunteers.

Miranda, Lifestyle Lead at the home, added: “Planning this event has been a real team effort, supported by fantastic local partners and businesses. The aim was to create something magical and accessible for families, and the response from the community has been incredible. It has been a joy to welcome so many children and families through the gates.”

Festive stalls and seasonal entertainment added to the atmosphere, with families enjoying sweet treats from Little Dough & Waffle Co, as well as crafts, cakes, tombola prizes and handmade gifts from local stallholders. Eye-catching balloon displays by Sweet Cwtch provided a colourful centrepiece throughout the event, helping to create a memorable experience for visitors of all ages.

Sarah, General Manager at Orchard House, said: “It has been wonderful to see so many families enjoying the Christmas Wonderland together. Bringing the community into the home for a free event like this reflects the strong local partnerships that exist in Wisbech. Seeing the children’s excitement as they met Santa and explored the wonderland made all the hard work worthwhile.”
