Art holds a very special place within a care home – it is not simply decoration, but a doorway to expression, memory, and joy. At Park View Care Centre in Ashford, the team believes that art has the power to spark conversations, stir emotions, and connect residents, families, and staff in ways that words sometimes cannot. It brings colour to the everyday and dignity to every moment.
That is why Park View is proud to have opened two new galleries within the home: The Hazel & Hop Art Gallery and The Kentish Downs Art Gallery. These dedicated spaces are more than just displays; they are celebrations of creativity, community, and the unique lives and stories that make Park View such a special place to live.
Residents have been encouraged to share their paintings, drawings, and craftwork, transforming corridors and communal areas into vibrant, ever-changing exhibitions. Families and visitors can now enjoy the artwork as they walk through the home, providing a wonderful talking point and a chance to appreciate the hidden talents of their loved ones.
Darren Humby, General Manager at Park View, said:
“We are so proud to showcase the creativity of our residents in a way that gives their work the attention it truly deserves.
These galleries aren’t just about hanging pictures on a wall – they’re about giving residents a platform to express themselves, celebrate their individuality, and share their stories. It’s been incredible to see the pride on their faces when they see their artwork displayed, and the joy it brings to families when they recognise the personal meaning behind each piece.”
Through The Hazel & Hop and The Kentish Downs galleries, Park View Care Centre is reminding everyone that art has the power to heal, to inspire, and to make life truly extraordinary.
