Queens Court Care Home Hosts Whimsical Mad Hatters Tea Party

Queens Court Care Home in Buckhurst Hill was transformed into a wonderland this week as residents, families, and staff gathered for a magical Mad Hatters Tea Party. Inspired by Lewis Carroll’s much-loved tale, the event was filled with laughter, music, and colourful costumes.

A highlight of the afternoon was a visit from a very tall Alice herself, who joined in the fun alongside residents and staff dressed as favourite characters from the story. Themed drinks flowed freely while everyone enjoyed a spread of scrumptious cakes and delicate finger sandwiches that proved an absolute hit.

The event was also warmly received by families. Janet Grogan, whose father is a resident, shared: “My dad said he had a lovely time. Thank you to the staff for taking him down to join in.”

Adding to the joy, residents welcomed back some familiar furry friends from Performing Pets, including the much-loved Scooby the American Miniature Pony, whose gentle nature always delights. Music and entertainment kept the atmosphere lively, with everyone singing, dancing, and soaking up the cheerful spirit of the day.

Lifestyle Lead, Liza Street, said:
“Our Mad Hatters Tea Party was such a wonderful opportunity to bring everyone together. Seeing residents and families smiling, laughing, and enjoying the theme was truly special. The visit from Scooby and the other Performing Pets made it even more magical.”

General Manager, Daniela, added:
“At Queens Court, we believe in creating memorable moments for our residents and their loved ones. Events like this allow us to celebrate creativity, fun, and togetherness, which are at the heart of life in our home.”
