Residents at Queens Court Care Home recently enjoyed a relaxed and sociable afternoon as the home hosted a special wine tasting event, bringing together good
conversation, quality wines and carefully selected cheeses.
The event was organised by Lifestyle Lead Liza, who worked closely with a local sommelier from Il Vino, in Queens Road Buckhurst Hill, to create an engaging and informative experience. During the session, residents learned about different wine varieties and how to pair them with complementary cheeses, adding an educational element to an already enjoyable afternoon.
Lifestyle Lead Liza added: “The wine tasting was all about enjoyment and discovery. Working with a local sommelier allowed the afternoon to feel informative without being formal, and residents really embraced the chance to try new wines alongside classic cheese pairings.”
Guests sampled a Sauvignon Blanc, described as one of France’s most celebrated grape varieties, perfectly paired with a selection of French cheeses. The tasting also included an Argentinian red Malbec, offering residents the opportunity to explore contrasting flavours and styles. The informal setting encouraged discussion, shared memories and plenty of laughter as residents compared favourites and asked questions.
Daniela, General Manager at Queens Court Care Home, said: “Events like this are a wonderful way to bring people together and offer something a little different. It was lovely to see residents so engaged, enjoying the flavours and sharing their thoughts throughout the afternoon. Creating moments that feel special and social is an important part of life at Queens Court.”
The wine tasting is one of many lifestyle-led activities held at Queens Court Care Home, designed to support social connection, personal interests and meaningful experiences for residents throughout the year.
