Intergenerational All Age Friendly Award at the Essex County Council Adult Social Care Proper Awards 2024.
This prestigious recognition is a testament to Liza’s unwavering commitment to fostering meaningful connections across generations, creating unique opportunities for residents, and being a prominent figure in the Buckhurst Hill community.
Celebrating Intergenerational Initiatives
Liza’s commendation highlights her innovative and heartfelt projects, including:
- Weekly Visits from Queens Nursery and Pre-School: Liza has built a strong partnership with Queens Nursery, bringing children into the care home for activities such as baking, painting, and storytelling. The children’s Nativity play is a cherished highlight of the festive season.
- The Davenant Enrichment Project: Over three months, students from Davenant school engage with residents through parties, arts and crafts, and holiday decorating. Additionally, work experience placements enable students to learn from Liza’s expertise and contribute to the home’s vibrant environment.
- Beavers Club Evenings: Liza welcomes the local Beavers group annually to create thank-you posters for community supporters, enhancing community ties.
- Duke of Edinburgh Volunteers: Students participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Award dedicate weekly hours to person-centred activities with residents, forming lasting bonds over three months.
