Withens Nursing Home in Southfleet has continued its monthly Blue Light Brunch Drop-Off initiative, a small but meaningful way of showing appreciation to local 
emergency and care services for the vital work they do within the community.
Each month, the team selects a different organisation to surprise with a delivery of brunch boxes as a thank-you gesture. Following visits to Kent Police in September and Swanscombe Surgery in October, November saw the team deliver a selection of freshly prepared brunch treats to Ellenor Hospice in Gravesend.
The hospice team were genuinely surprised by the visit and chose to share the treats with patients and their families within the clinic, helping to spread the gesture even further. The Ellenor team holds a particularly special place for everyone at Withens, regularly offering support to residents and families when it is most needed.
Following the visit, the Ellenor team shared their appreciation on social media, writing:
“A little surprise to sweeten our day! These wonderful humans popped into the hospice with a basket full of warm muffins and carrot cake — absolute heroes! Each month they choose a different charity to spoil, and this time it was our turn. Our staff and volunteers were thrilled… and very well fed!”
The Blue Light Brunch Drop-Off initiative reflects Withens Nursing Home’s ongoing commitment to supporting and celebrating the wider care and emergency services network across Kent.

The team at Ellenor does such important work, often in very difficult circumstances, and it meant a great deal to be able to give something back, even in a small way.”
