Withens Nursing Home Welcomes Community Volunteers to Refresh Garden Spaces

Withens Nursing Home in Southfleet recently welcomed members of the St Nicholas Church Gardening Team, who generously volunteered their time to help enhance the home’s outdoor spaces.

The group, who the home awarded their Southfleet Super Heroes award earlier in the year, spent the day carrying out essential cutting and pruning, helping to revitalise the gardens and prepare them for the warmer months ahead.

The visit took place on a bright, sunny day with a gentle breeze, creating the perfect setting for working outdoors. The gardens were full of activity as volunteers worked together, bringing both care and attention to every area they supported.

To thank the team for their hard work, a mid-morning break was arranged in the garden, where the team were able to relax and enjoy a selection of refreshments including tea, cakes, scotch eggs and pork pies.

The visit highlighted the importance of community connections and the positive impact they can have within the home environment, supporting both the surroundings and the wellbeing of residents.

Gurpreet, General Manager at Withens Nursing Home, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome the St Nicholas Church Gardening Team to the home. Their support has made such a difference to the gardens, which are an important part of daily life here, especially as the weather improves. We are incredibly grateful for the time and effort each volunteer gave, and it was lovely to spend time together and thank them properly.”

Special thanks to Lee, Geoff, John, Steve, Dermot, Mike and Chris for their contribution, whose efforts have helped ensure the gardens remain a welcoming and enjoyable space for everyone.

Withens Nursing Home looks forward to welcoming the team back again in the future as part of its continued commitment to building strong local community relationships.
