Bringing Families Together: Woodlands Care Centre’s Monthly Relatives’ Coffee Break

At Woodlands Care Centre, we believe in the power of community and support—not just for our residents but for their loved ones too. That’s why our monthly Relatives’ Coffee Break, hosted by our wonderful Relatives Ambassador, Angela, has become such a cherished tradition.

Angela’s journey with Woodlands is a deeply personal one—her husband is a resident here, and through her experiences, has become a pivotal member of our care home community. Wanting to create a welcoming space where families could connect, support one another, and feel at home, she began hosting these monthly sessions. What started as a small gathering has flourished into a warm and inclusive group where relatives can share experiences, ask questions, and find comfort in each other’s company. And, of course, no coffee morning would be complete without Angela’s delicious homemade cakes, which always go down a treat!

For those new to Woodlands, these sessions offer valuable guidance—whether it’s understanding who to contact for support or simply navigating the transition of having a loved one in care. For others, it’s an opportunity to connect, chat, and find a sense of belonging. As Lifestyle Lead Sarah explains: “I have spoken to some relatives who say they love coming to these sessions because they sometimes feel lonely or lost. They’ve told me that these coffee mornings are a massive help. You can talk about anything, and you never feel judged—people just listen, support, and offer advice.”

Alongside Angela’s wonderful cakes, our home’s chef ensures plenty of tea, coffee, and even more sweet treats—because at Woodlands, there’s always room for more cake!

But Angela’s contributions don’t stop at coffee mornings. A devoted member of our community, she also plays the piano during church services, leads her own music group, “Choir with Angela”, and even joins us on outings, including our much-loved trips to Hunstanton.

Angela is truly an invaluable part of life at Woodlands, and we are so grateful for her kindness, energy, and generosity. Her monthly coffee mornings continue to bring families together, creating an atmosphere of warmth, support, and friendship—one delicious homemade cake at a time.
