Friendly Competition at Queens Court Care Home Curling Match

Residents at Queens Court Care Home recently enjoyed a lively afternoon of friendly competition as they took part in an indoor curling match that brought out teamwork, laughter, and a little healthy rivalry.

The activity saw residents split into two teams—red versus blue—with Mary, Kwadwo, and Yvonne representing the red team, while Jill, Gill, and Anthony took on the challenge for the blue team. Doris also made a stylish late arrival, adding to the excitement as the game got underway.

From the very first round, the competition was fierce. Jill quickly demonstrated her bowling champion skills, delivering shot after shot close to the centre. Not to be outdone, Mary brought energy and determination to the red team, keeping everyone guessing with her unpredictable final shots each round.

The blue team kept the pressure on, with Gill securing an impressive three points and sparking plenty of light-hearted banter among players. Yvonne responded in style, showcasing fantastic accuracy to claim the second round for the red team and keep the scores close.

Meanwhile, Anthony approached the game with careful strategy, confidently announcing his tactics before each shot, and successfully executing them every time. Kwadwo, taking part in his first curling game, impressed everyone with his calm approach and consistent aim.

Saaniya, Lifestyle Lead at the home, said: “It was fantastic to see everyone so engaged and enjoying themselves. Activities like this bring out such great energy and laughter, and it’s wonderful to watch residents encourage one another and get involved in something a little different.”

The match built to a nail-biting finish, with the final score an incredibly close 3–2. More important than the result, however, was the shared enjoyment, with residents celebrating with smiles, high-fives, and great sportsmanship throughout.

The curling session is just one of the many engaging activities regularly organised at Queens Court Care Home, supporting residents to enjoy meaningful experiences while staying active and connected within the home community.

Daniela, General Manager at Queens Court Care Home, added: “Creating opportunities for residents to stay active, social, and connected is a key part of daily life here. This curling match was a brilliant example of how a simple activity can bring people together, spark friendly competition, and create memorable moments for everyone involved.”
