Romford Care Home was filled with pride, joy and celebration last week as residents, relatives and team members came together for the much-anticipated Annual
Staff Awards.
The evening was a true celebration of dedication and compassion, recognising those who go above and beyond every single day. From the moment guests arrived, there was a wonderful atmosphere of support for all nominees and winners.
This year’s award winners included: Carer (Days) – Violeta Makairou; Carer (Nights) – Bimal De Silver; Senior/Nurse (Days) – Tanya Sullivan; Senior/Nurse (Nights) – Guillaume Konan; Newcomer – Taryn Gustave-Balaam; Dignity in Care – Carla Eastwood; Ancillary Worker – Jim Glover; Putting People First – Tara Balaam; Going Above & Beyond – Miriam Midvighi; Leadership – Elena Iordache; and Unsung Hero – Amanda Hankin.
Special recognition was also given to Bob Berger, Susie Hooker and Bernie Norcott for Dedication, Commitment & Positive Impact in their roles as volunteers; Joan Harrison-Miller for Resident & Recruitment Support; Audrey the dog, who stole hearts as Star of the Show; and Alfie Smith, who received a Special Mention for his support on the night.
Maddie, Home Manager, said: “The Awards are one of the highlights of the year. It was so special to see residents, families and team members celebrating together. Every single nominee should feel incredibly proud – the compassion and commitment shown each day truly makes a difference to people’s lives.”
Pauline Manning, Director of HR at RCH Care Homes, added: “Events like this shine a light on the extraordinary dedication within Romford Care Home. The passion, teamwork and kindness demonstrated by the team and volunteers is inspiring, and it’s wonderful to see that recognised in such a joyful way.”
Once the formal presentations concluded, the real party began, with plenty of dancing and singing long into the night. The celebrations ended on a high as Bob, the home’s Relatives Ambassador, led everyone in a heartfelt rendition of ‘Enjoy Yourself (It’s Later Than You Think)’ by The Specials — a fitting anthem to close a truly memorable evening.
