Orchard House Care Home in Wisbech got a magical start to the Christmas season with help from the Wisbech Army Cadets. Over the past year, the cadets have been volunteering their time at the home, creating bonds with residents and lending a hand in many ways. This week, they turned their talents to decking the halls, helping residents decorate the home and Christmas trees for the holiday season.
A team of 15 cadets and two leaders brought their festive spirit and energy to the task, transforming the home into a winter wonderland. Their efforts culminated in the Christmas lights switch-on event, where residents and staff celebrated the beginning of the season in style.
Community Spirit in Action
Lifestyle Lead Miranda shared her gratitude: “A huge thank you to our amazing cadets! Their enthusiasm and teamwork brought our Christmas decorations to life, making this season even more special. They truly are an asset to our community.”
The festive collaboration was especially meaningful for the home’s veteran residents, who enjoyed reminiscing and sharing stories with the cadets as they worked together. One resident commented: “It was wonderful to see their excitement and dedication—it made our decorations feel even more special this year.”

Spreading Joy Through Generosity
General Manager Sarah Watson echoed the sentiments, saying: “We are so grateful for the support and spirit of the Wisbech Army Cadets. Their efforts brought joy to everyone at Orchard House. It’s wonderful to see our community come together to spread happiness and create cherished memories during this magical time of year.”
