Residents and staff at Romford Care Home were treated to a delightful surprise on a recent outing when they discovered a group of wild deer grazing peacefully near the home. The sight of these majestic animals provided a moment of awe and connection with nature, perfectly timed as the festive season approaches.
A Winter Walk to Remember
The discovery came during one of the home’s regular walks, organised to encourage residents to enjoy fresh air and engage with their surroundings. Lifestyle Lead Amber shared: “We’ve recently learned about the wild deer living nearby, so we decided to head out and see if we could spot them. It was an incredible experience to watch them grazing in their natural habitat.”
Residents were thrilled by the unexpected encounter, with many reflecting on the beauty and tranquillity of seeing the deer up close.
A Gesture of Connection
Not ones to miss an opportunity for kindness, the group brought along carrots for the deer, creating a memorable moment of connection. One resident remarked: “It was such a joy to see the deer up close, and feeding them felt like a little gift to nature.”
The Magic of Nature
The encounter highlighted the importance of nature in enriching the lives of residents. RCH Care Homes Business Development Manager for the South and local Romford Town resident Tracy Smith said: “Moments like these remind us how special it is to be part of a community that values the outdoors and cherishes the simple joys life offers.”
As Romford Care Home prepares for the festive season, the discovery of the deer has added an extra touch of magic and joy. The team plans to incorporate more nature-inspired outings into their activities, ensuring residents continue to experience these uplifting moments.
