The joy of storytelling and the magic of books brought generations together as Orchard House Care Home in Wisbech celebrated World Book Day with a special visit from Little Owls Nursery. The young book lovers arrived in a dazzling array of costumes, bringing beloved characters to life and sparking wonderful conversations with residents about their own favourite childhood tales.
Laughter and nostalgia filled the room as residents reminisced about the books that shaped their younger years, while the children delighted in seeing staff – and even some residents – dressed up to join in the fun. The day was filled with storytelling sessions, animated readings, and plenty of smiles as everyone embraced the power of books to connect and inspire.
Miranda Robinson, Lifestyle Lead at Orchard House Care Home, shared:
“It was heart-warming to see the residents and children bond over stories that have stood the test of time. Books have a unique way of bringing people together, and today was a perfect example of that. Watching our residents’ faces light up as they shared their favourite books with the children was truly special.”
Adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere, the care home also hosted its monthly Winter Warmer event on the same day. This initiative provides a cosy space for the community to come together, enjoy a hot drink, and share conversation—making it the perfect complement to a day filled with literary joy.
