Buckhurst Hill’s Action for Family Carers and Queens Court Care Home have come together to shine a spotlight on the incredible dedication of family carers in the
local community.
After a conversation between Veronica Sadowsky, Care Support Worker for the charity, and the team at Queens Court, an idea quickly blossomed into something truly special, a relaxing pamper session designed especially for family members caring for their loved ones at home.
The event welcomed carers for a well-deserved afternoon of rest and appreciation, complete with gentle pampering, nibbles and the chance to connect with others who share similar experiences. It was a simple but meaningful way of recognising the compassion, resilience and commitment shown by those who support relatives day in, day out.
Liza, Lifestyle Lead at Queens Court Care Home, who regularly l 
eads, supports and attends the charity’s monthly support group, played a key role in organising the event. Through ongoing involvement with Action for Family Carers, Liza has built strong relationships with local families; offering guidance, inviting them and their loved ones to events and activities at Queens Court, and helping them feel part of a wider, supportive community.
Liza said: “Family carers give so much of themselves, often without taking time to recharge. It was wonderful to be able to offer an afternoon that was purely about them — time to relax, chat and feel appreciated. Working alongside Action for Family Carers allows us to extend support beyond the home and stay connected with families in the community.”
Daniela, General Manager at Queens Court Care Home, added: “Supporting local families is incredibly important. Caring for a loved one at home can be rewarding,
but it can also feel overwhelming at times. By working closely with Action for Family Carers, meaningful opportunities are created to offer reassurance, practical support and a welcoming space where people feel understood. Building strong relationships with families is at the heart of everything that happens here.”
