April was bursting with activity, community spirit, and joyful moments at Maidstone Care Centre, where residents enjoyed everything from whimsical tea parties and classic films to gardening and retail therapy.
Kicking off the month in style, the team hosted a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party on April 4th, complete with a feast of delicious food and drink, themed decorations, and a special showing of Alice in Wonderland.
Family members and visiting children joined the festivities, creating a heart- warming intergenerational experience that brought plenty of smiles. “It was so lovely to see our residents chatting with the children and enjoying the story come to life,” said Lifestyle Lead Belinda Tandy. “These events create a real buzz around the home and build such a sense of community.”
Later in the month, the Rochester Suite transformed into a home cinema for a classic screening of Mrs. Doubtfire. Residents indulged in hot dogs, popcorn, and sweets, recreating the full cinema experience. “It’s all about those thoughtful touches that make a difference—whether it’s popcorn for a film night or bird feeders in the garden,” said General Manager Anna Ramos. “We’re passionate about giving our residents a fulfilling and joyful lifestyle.”
The care home embraced the improving weather with outdoor activities such as painting, gardening, and wildlife watching. Residents created
bird feeders and were delighted to hang them in the garden, watching to see which feathered friends would stop by. Green-fingered residents also planted tomatoes and onions, eagerly anticipating the fruits of their labour.
One of the month’s highlights was a trip into town on April 22nd, where residents enjoyed some retail therapy and a delicious lunch at Wetherspoons. “There were smiles from start to finish,” added Belinda. “It’s those everyday outings that help maintain independence, boost confidence, and spark so many happy conversations.”
With live music, dancing, baking, and connection at the heart of April, Maidstone Care Centre continues to be a vibrant and welcoming home for all who live there.
