Withens Nursing Home Announces October’s Southfleet Superhero

Withens Nursing Home in Southfleet is celebrating another outstanding local hero as part of the monthly Southfleet Superhero recognition initiative. For October, the community proudly nominated the Southfleet Women’s Institute, recognising the group’s enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment to bringing people together.

General Manager Gurpreet Vara visited Southfleet Village Hall during one of the group’s monthly meetings to present a special gift hamper to Tina Lucas, President and Secretary of the Southfleet Women’s Institute. The nomination highlighted the WI’s ongoing support for local causes, including their recent contribution to BREAST CANCER NOW. During October, the group created a beautifully unique post box topper to promote the BIG PINK QUIZ, raising awareness and spreading positivity throughout the village.

Southfleet Women’s Institute is a longstanding and lively part of village life. Meeting every second Monday of the month at Southfleet Village Hall, the group enjoys an impressive mix of speakers, entertainment, craft activities, monthly walks, luncheon clubs, theatre and cinema trips.

Designed for women of all ages, Southfleet WI prides itself on offering an inclusive, fun, and friendly space where members can enjoy laughter, connection, and community spirit. Guests are always welcome to come along from 7pm–7.30pm to see what the group is all about. And as any regular will tell you, every meeting promises plenty of time for tea, cake, and good conversation.

The team at Withens Nursing Home is delighted to recognise the Southfleet Women’s Institute for the joy, creativity, and community pride they bring to Southfleet each and every month.
