Woodlands Care Centre Hosts Its First Christmas Fair – A Festive Success Filled with Community Spirit
Woodlands Care Centre in Cambridge kicked off the festive season in style on Friday 7th November as the home welcomed residents,
relatives, friends, and local visitors to its first ever Christmas Fair. The event, months in the making, brought together creativity, community, and Christmas cheer in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The Fair featured 11 beautifully presented stalls, each showcasing handmade treasures ranging from festive wreaths, homemade Christmas cards and cakes to charming crochet animals and unique artisan gifts. Stallholders generously donated an item to the raffle, helping to make the prize table even more enticing for visitors.
Guests were treated to complimentary mince pies, mulled wine, and hot chocolate topped with cream and marshmallows, creating a cosy festive feel. Christmas music and colourful decorations filled the lounge, adding to the joyful atmosphere. Residents admired the displays, browsed the stalls, and enjoyed the social buzz, with the mulled wine proving particularly popular, disappearing halfway through the event!
The Fair also helped raise funds for meaningful causes. An impressive £98 was collected through the raffle, with an additional £25 donated by a friend of a resident, £20 from the wreath stall ladies, and £55 from Angela, Woodlands’ dedicated Residents’ Ambassador. The total of £198 raised went directly to supporting the vital work of the Alzheimer’s Society.
Sarah, Lifestyle Lead at Woodlands Care Centre, shared her delight at how the day unfolded: “It was wonderful to see the home so full of life, laughter, and festive fun. The support from families, residents, and the local community was truly heart-warming. Everyone came together to make it a special day, and I’m so proud of what we achieved.”
The event also received fantastic feedback online, with two new 5-star Google reviews praising the warm atmosphere, friendly team, and the way staff supported residents to enjoy the day.
