Queens Court Care Home in Buckhurst Hill is celebrating the heartfelt commitment of a young volunteer whose bond with the home began through family and has since blossomed into something truly special.
Grace Tout first became a familiar face at Queens Court while visiting her beloved Nanny, Ann Tout, who lived in the home’s Dementia Community. Grace was a regular visitor, and her presence brought joy not only to her Nan but also to the wider community of residents and staff. Sadly, Ann passed away last year—but her legacy continues through Grace’s compassionate actions.
When Grace began working towards her
, she chose Queens Court as the place to complete the Volunteering section, inspired by the meaningful memories she shared with her Nan. With the support of Lifestyle Lead Liza Street, Grace spent three months volunteering every Tuesday and Wednesday, dedicating two hours each day to assisting residents in the Dementia Community with supper, conversation, and companionship.
Her presence quickly became a cherished part of the weekly routine. “The difference Grace made during her time with us was incredible,” said Liza Street, Lifestyle Lead at Queens Court. “She brought so much warmth and energy to the home. The residents lit up when she arrived. We were all so proud of the way she connected with everyone and how natural she was in offering comfort and support.”
After successfully completing her Bronze Award, Grace didn’t hesitate to return. Volunteering again as part of her Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award, bringing her kindness and compassion back to the home she holds so close to her heart.
The team at Queens Court is thrilled to support her once more and looks forward to another few months of smiles, stories, and the special moments that Grace helps create.
